While You Wait — Critical Steps Before We Arrive

Take these steps before we get there. They protect your home, your family, and prevent bigger damage.

Step 1
🔥 IF YOU SMELL GAS — STOP HERE
Leave the house immediately.
Don't turn anything on or off — not lights, not switches, not the boiler.
Call (973) 900-0430 from outside the house.
If the smell is strong, also call your gas company or 911.
Step 2
🚨 IF YOUR CO ALARM IS SOUNDING
Open windows and doors. Get everyone outside.
Don't restart the boiler.
Call (973) 900-0430 from outside.
If anyone is dizzy, nauseous, or confused — call 911 first.
Step 3
❄️ IF YOU HAVE NO HEAT
  1. Check the basics first:
    • Thermostat: Is it set to "Heat" and high enough?
    • Boiler emergency switch: Often a red switch near the boiler. Make sure it's ON.
    • Breaker panel: Is the boiler breaker tripped?
    • Pilot light (older boilers): Is it lit?
  2. If basics are OK, protect against pipe freezing:
    • Open cabinet doors under sinks (let warm air reach pipes)
    • Set faucets to a slow drip on exterior walls
    • Close interior doors to trap residual heat in living areas
    • Move pets and family to a single room with space heaters if available
  3. Then call (973) 900-0430. We dispatch 24/7 in heating season.
Step 4
💧 IF YOUR BOILER IS LEAKING WATER
Find the water supply valve to the boiler (usually above or near the unit). Turn it clockwise to shut off.
If it's a gas boiler, also turn off the gas valve.
Move anything porous away from the area.
Take photos for your insurance.
Then call (973) 900-0430.

What Happens When We Get the Call

Our Emergency Response, Step by Step

Four-step flow:

Step 1
You Call
A real person answers — not a voicemail, not a menu. We confirm the issue, your address, dispatch the closest available licensed plumber, and walk you through immediate safety steps over the phone.
Step 2
We Help You Stabilize
While our plumber is en route, we tell you what to do (and what not to do) — including pipe freeze prevention if heat is out.
Step 3
We Arrive Fast
Our trucks stock common boiler parts, ignition components, low water cutoffs, circulator pumps, and emergency supplies. Most boiler emergencies we resolve in a single visit.
Step 4
We Test Combustion Safety
Every emergency visit includes CO testing — we don't restart your boiler without confirming it's safe to operate.

Emergency Boiler Service FAQs

Yes. From October through April, we have a licensed plumber on emergency call every hour of every day — nights, weekends, holidays.
After-hours visits include a service call premium — but it's flat-rate and quoted before we start work. No invoice surprises.
Sometimes. If we have a compatible unit in stock and the install is straightforward, yes. More often, we'll do a temporary fix or repair to restore heat and schedule full replacement within 1–3 days.
Yes. We work with property managers and landlords daily. Communication with the tenant is professional and brief. Billing is clear and itemized, sent to you.
Yes. Shut the water supply valve to the boiler (usually above the unit). If it's gas, shut the gas valve too. Then call (973) 900-0430. Don't try to "wait it out" — leaks accelerate water damage every hour.
Treat it as if you do. Leave the house, don't touch anything electrical, call (973) 900-0430 from outside. If the smell is strong, call your gas company or 911. Don't wait to "see if it gets worse."
